Over the last week my training was winding down in accessory work since I had a huge physical (I found out mental as well) test this past Saturday.
It was a good week and ended up finally hitting a 300lbs Log Press. I have been chasing that number for a very long time now. The celebration was short lived however. That night I went home and smashed a shitload of carbs in under an hour. That was my post workout reward.
THe next day was time to shift my mind onto another goal.... 600lbs deadlift will be the next milestone I need to hit. Only 45lbs away.
A few days after my log press victory, I trained at home with J-Howw. The Annihilate to Liberate Fundraiser was the next day so I had to train smart and shut it down early.
Friday Afternoon-
Foam Roll and Lax Ball while playing the 2009 Carp Fair Strongman on DVD.
Deadlift-
305 x 3 Easy
350 x 3 Easy
390 x 3 Belt on, smooth. Not difficult. Stopped after prescribed reps.
SlingShot Bench-
265 x 3 Easy
305 x 3 Easy
345 x 3 Felt like I could have hit 10 reps even on the shitty bench and bar I was using. Stopped after prescribed reps.
That was enough. Stretched and showered. Done.
The ANNIHILATE TO LIBERATE Fundraiser.
Ended up with two teams, UFGyms.com vs Team Garage.
1st Event-
Push Ups for 1 Hour
I don't remember much of the details but I know that our teammate Leslie (UFGyms gave us a 4th team member since we were down) was the only female in the comp and held her own.
Adrian started first with 35 reps then I followed with 30. Stupid idea. Shot out of the gates too quick and died fast. 10 and 5 rep intervals were the norm afterwards. Jon busted his ass and form looked like shit as did the rest of us...........except Leslie.
1330 total reps and still lost first event.
2nd Event-
135lbs Deadlift for 1 Hour
We were smarter this time and started with 10 and 5 rep intervals. After 20 minutes one of the UFGym "Cronies" cut one and it stunk pretty bad. I remember getting up to the platform and gagging, walking away and remembered this was a timed event only to return to the platform and hit 5 reps. Wow, it stayed for awhile. Dirty tactic but it worked.
1444 total reps and lost again. WTF? Crazy bastards.
3rd Event-
30lbs DB Clean and Press for 1 Hour
We were down two events at this point with two events remaining. Time to dig deep. I was super sweaty and even with a chalk tip from Paul Vaillancourt my hands still tore open. Many were disgusted and I was proud of my wounds but my team didn't care. We were doing this for a reason and my team was solid. My lockouts were questioned (still waiting on the video proof) but the intensity was there. Adrian, Jon and Leslie still kept pounding away.
1365 total reps..... BUT LOST AGAIN. UFGyms sealed the deal, they took home the prizes of Anabolic Link and Toragen from CygenLabs.com!!
They'll need it after this competition.
Even after they sealed the deal, we had one event left. Took a quick vote, bench press was on! 30 mins per team.
Final Event-
135lbs Bench Press for 30 Mins
We won the coin toss and decided to make the other team go first. Bad idea... we cooled down and started to cramp and knot up. Salt was added to our water and away we went. Not much to say..... total body was Annihilated!!
579 total reps. Lost again... ahahaha
UFGYMS swept the event and we raised $800 for my good friend to get down to Cali for his LIberation Treatment. Mission accomplished. This will now be an annual event to help someone else. Matt and his wife Lindsey would like to pay it forward and keep this rolling. I love that idea.
Thank you to The Hub Sports Bar for letting us stink up the place, Cygen Labs for donating kick ass supplement prizes, Gail from the EMC for covering the event and following this story of Liberation, MAX Major from Rock107 radio for drilling the 30lbs DB Clean and Press to bring in some extra cash and Bruce and Chantal from RescindX for donating the event shirts (which look awesome) and donating 20% of sales to the cause.
Thank you to all!!!!!
