Who's With Us?

I blog about it. I talk about it. I train it. I dream about it. I'm proud of it. I want more of it. I needed to do something about it.

I have been competing in Strongman for 6 years now. I have watched it as long as TSN and OLN have carried it. Once I competed at the Cobourg Waterfront Festival Strongman in 2005 I knew that this was different than the football practices and games I skipped. It was different than the rugby practices I quit and never returned to. It's not like I had huge success at my first attempt either. I got hammered...10th out of 12.
I didn't care. This sport was me.

It's not popular. It's not easy. You can't blame the other members of your team if shit goes bad. In most sports you can skip or miss a practice here and there. You can't with Strongman. If you do, you've fallen behind.

There are now quite a few men who do this sport in Ontario. That is a good thing. However, I can't say every one of them r e s p e c t this sport. It's easy to take these competitions that are put on by gracious promoters and bitch and complain about the show. It's ok to swear out loud in front of the children in the crowd and throw yourself in a fit when it doesn't go your way. It's easy to brag out at the clubs that you do "strongman" right?

I did something about it. I have joined forces with those who respect and actually care about this great sport. First, Paul Vaillancourt and Jordan Foley (yes, my trainer) from TotalFitnessSolutions.ca are two guys who help myself and many others succeed in athletics of all sorts. They are both high level competitive strongmen.

Second, Bruce and Chantal Millward. If you don't know who they are, you will find out very soon. RescindX Athletics and RescindX MMAFitwear are their companies. They have found a new home in the world of Strongman.

They bring to you and our world of jacked freaks, killer clothing, amazing online exposure and also....respect. Many sponsors and companies look at us like sideshows and just see us as a small market for their products. Not Bruce and Chantal. They see us interacting with the people in the bleachers, high-fives to the kids in the audience and the blood, sweat and tears that we put in... to entertain our crowd. They see our future.

In 2012, Total Fitness Solutions and RescindX bring to you... the Ontario Strongman Pro Invitational Tour. This tour will also include amateur shows to help develop new and up and coming talent.

Time to give back to the sport that has given me many things.
