No cream or ointment will cure it. No matter how bad the itch becomes, no doctor can help me.
Now that you think I am constantly scratching myself I will say that I am only itching to compete in Strongman again. After my little back injury, the rehab, new program and just holding back from competing until I'm ready, I will be jumping back into competition next Friday night.
The original plan was to make a return at the Canadian Law Enforcement & Fire Games powerlifting meet which I am promoting. I wanted to see how my body will hold up and hopefully test my new strength.
Here's where I get real itchy...
So since I wasn't able to attempt to qualify for Ontario's Strongest Man I wanted to be there as close as I could. So I volunteered as a loader/ equipment mover etc. Turns out my help wasn't really needed too much so I got to watch the show up close and personal. By the end of the first event (log press) I had a nervous feeling in my stomach. The kind of feeling I get before I am competing myself. I wanted to jump in there in front of a decent sized crowd. This crowd had some big names in the strength world watching, just insane.
On the way home all I could do was think about competing. My back is feeling great, hittin' PR's consistently and just having an awesome time training. Now, I was putting the powerlifting meet to the side. I was now focused on starting to train events again and compete in the Law Enforcement Strongman competition on September 10th.
Immediately I contacted Jordan Foley who designs my training routine. Time to shift training towards Strongman again. My first event session was this past Monday where I touched the implements for the first time in 6ish months. No big numbers but definitely improvements and my conditioning is noticeably better. To get some more experience before Sept. 10th I am now entered in a 3 event strongman competition in Peterborough next Friday night. I am looking to shake some cobwebs out in this show and have some fun.
Even as I write this blog I feel the need to satisfy this itch...
Next Friday, time to start scratching. I need to compete. I need to be at OSM next year. I can't wait.
