Welcome to 2011!

Happy New Year to All!    This is the time of the year where people make promises to themselves and fail to keep them within weeks.  I don't drink so this isn't a big holiday for me.  I also don't need one special night to make changes in my life, I can do that as I go.  I constantly try to improve myself in one form or another all the time which is what more people should be doing.  Anyways, I am not God or anything so here's my workout I did yesterday.

I went out to my buddy Adrian's yesterday at noon.  I spent the 25 minute drive drinking water to make sure I was hydrated.  Since my vehicle doesn't have a working stereo I repeatedly sang Christmas carols in my head.  Not a good way to get yourself psyched for a training session but I do love X-Mas and they were stuck in my head.

DE Log-  160lbs x 4 sets x 3 reps   **I was focusing on my jerk and it felt quite snappy.  I will slowly ramp the weight up over the next few months just trying to hit speed and technique.

Deadlifts-  275lbs x 2 sets x 1 rep , 360lbs x 1 rep   **Adrian was doing his deadlifts for the day and since I already have a dedicated DL day I decided I'd practice a little in my deadlift suit.  I kept the straps down and didn't go too crazy.  I am still trying to break it in but the speed on the pulls felt like I am getting the hang of it.

Atlas Stones-  185lbs x 2 sets x 6 reps from lap to high on chest with no tacky,  250lbs with tacky x 2 sets x 1 rep, 1 one motion rep high on chest.     **Adrian doesn't have his platform built yet so we lifted as high on our chest as possible and dropped on thick mats.  I definitely need weekly practice on the atlas stones, these felt heavy!

Farmer's Walk-  120lbs x 1 set x 150ft,  220lbs x 2 sets x 150ft   **No drops on all sets.  We focused on speed (well, as fast as we could) and made sure we didn't drop.  Not PR weights here but for the first farmer's runs in months this is a good starting point.  My conditioning was horrible on these.

Overall it was a really good session.  I am glad I made the trip out to Adrian's for a change in scenery.  He is following a program designed for him from http://totalfitnesssolutions.ca/ and already he is improving week by week.  As far as my training, I feel confident I am heading into 2011 on the right track.
